Sharon Regional Medical Center restores more specialty services

Sharon Regional Medical Center has reopened several specialty departments, further expanding healthcare access for the Mercer County community. The hospital, now under the ownership of the Tenor Health Foundation, announced the restoration of services, including catheterization and vascular labs, surgical services, inpatient care, interventional radiology, wound care, and cardiac rehabilitation, effective Monday.
This development follows the reopening of general hospital services on March 18. The resumption of these specialized services was made possible through collaboration with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, according to the hospital.
"The reopening of these key departments marks another major step forward in restoring the full continuum of care at Sharon Regional," said Butch Eavenson, interim CEO of Sharon Regional Medical Center, in a statement. He emphasized the importance of these services in providing high-quality treatment locally.
The restored catheterization and vascular labs will offer advanced diagnostics and treatments for heart and circulatory conditions. Resumed surgical services will include both inpatient and outpatient procedures. Inpatient care has been restored through the establishment of a 12-bed medical-surgical unit providing 24/7 support.
Interventional radiology will offer minimally invasive, image-guided treatments. The Wound Care Center will provide specialized care for chronic wounds, and cardiac rehabilitation will offer supervised exercise and education for heart health.
Sharon Regional Medical Center had been closed since Jan. 6 due to the bankruptcy of its previous owner, Steward Health System. Tenor Health Foundation acquired the facility to restore healthcare services.
The hospital previously announced the reopening of its emergency room, medical-surgical unit, intensive care unit, and behavioral health services in March. The hospital has retained approximately 600 of its 700 former employees.
Sharon Regional Medical Center officials say they plan to continue a phased reopening of additional services.
