Lordstown Public Library to permanently close in June due to declining usage

The Lordstown branch of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library (W-TCPL) is set to permanently close in June of 2025.
According to a press release, the W-TCPL Board of Trustees made the decision to permanently close the Lordstown library after 5 p.m. June 27 after "careful consideration" of the library's circulation and usage numbers.
The Lordstown branch's circulation and visitor numbers have drastically dropped over the years with the current usage being a quarter of what it was in 2011.
"The library board regularly reviews library usage to ensure that we are utilizing the funds we are entrusted in a fiscally-responsible way. This was a difficult decisions, but one that we believe will allow us to best serve the entire Trumbull County community," said W-TCPL Executive Director Jim Wilkins.
W-TCPL still plans to serve Lordstown through a new service model that may include Bookmobile stops in the village and other programming options that don't require a physical location.
Following June 27, all unreturned library books must be returned to another W-TCPL branch. The two employees working at the Lordstown branch will be reassigned to other branches.
W-TCPL has branches in Brookfield Township, Cortland, Howland Township, Liberty Township and Warren. The library also offers a Bookmobile and Library-By-Mail service.
