Trumbull County school selected for Ohio elementary school hall of fame

Seaborn Elementary School in Weathersfield has been selected as a 2025 Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators (OAESA) Hall of Fame School.
"I got the call Wednesday and it was like a Christmas Day moment, it was an unexpected and a cool surprise," said Seaborn Elementary Principal TJ Koniowsky. "It brightened my whole day because our staff is extremely deserving of this recognition."
Koniowsky submitted a 25-page application highlighting the schools achievements, curriculum and overall culture of excellence. In addition, the school invited committee members from the Hall of Fame to the school in March.
"We've had four years of consistent success," said Koniowsky. "That kind of longevity proves that our approach works - our teachers are exceptional, our students love coming to school."
The school would be adding to a list of accolades that includes a National Blue Ribbon School award, a five-star rating on its Ohio Department of Education and Workforce report card for 2022, 2024 and 2025 and was recognized as a Best Elementary School by U.S. News and World Report in 2022, 2024 and 2025.
"To be recognized as a Hall of Fame School is a testament to their dedication and to the wonderful partnership we have with our students and families. We are very proud," said Weathersfield Superintendent Damon Dohar.
The Weathersfield School District Board Meeting on April 16 will recognize Seaborn for its selection to the OAESA Hall of Fame. It is one of only 11 schools to receive the honor.
The official awards celebration will be held in Columbus on June 16 at the OAESA Professional Conference and Tradeshow in Columbus.
