Some Big Lots locations in the Valley will be reopening under new ownership in May.

Big Lots has announced earlier in April that it plans to open several stores under new ownership beginning Thursday, April 10 with at least one location in the Valley joining them in the near future.

A 21 News employee spotted a sign on the Boardman location on South Avenue that reads "the comeback starts soon" implying that it will be among the locations reopening.

21 News has since confirmed with new owners Variety Wholesalers that three locations would be reopening soon in May, including:

  • The Boardman Big Lots location at 7100 South Avenue, Youngstown on May 1
  • The Warren Big Lots location at 4331 Mahoning Avenue NW, Warren on May 1
  • The New Castle Big Lots location at 2611 Ellwood Road, New Castle on May 15

According to a press release from Business Wire, Variety Wholesalers is a leading discount retailer known for its "treasure hunt shopping experience, closeouts and unbeatable bargains."
