Warren man pleads guilty to lesser charge in $140K condo theft case

A Warren man who faced a trial on allegations that more than $140,000 from a condominium association pleaded guilty to a less serious charge on Wednesday.
Randy Rule, 62, had been indicted for grand theft, pleaded guilty to one felony count of attempted grand theft.
According to an indictment, rule allegedly stole $140,218 from the Surrey Point II Homeowners Association when he was the organization's president.
A court document claims Rule got the money by submitting falsified invoices to management from work that was never performed. Some of the invoices were from non-existent companies, according to investigators.
The indictment alleges the theft took place over seven years beginning in 2015.
Judge Sean O'Brien will pass sentence after a pre-sentence investigation is completed.
