Two bridges on East Gilmore Road between the intersection with Montgomery Dam Road and the intersection with Centertown Road in Wolf Creek Township will begin being replaced on April 14.
The $2.6 million project seeks to replace two bridges built around 66 years ago that are said to be in "poor" condition. The bridges measure 64 feet and 43 feet long respectively.
Both bridges will be removed before the construction of new steel beams and concrete structures along with the minimal paving to each side, improvements to drainage, guide rail updates, new signs and roadway markers.
A detour is required to allow for crews to work on this bridge replacement project. The detour is set to begin on April 21 and be in place for six months.
Pennsylvania motorists are advised to use Route 173, Daugherty Road and Centertown Road. Those located between the bridges can be accessed by using Montgomery Dam Road, Scrubgrass Road and Route 173.
PennDOT urges drivers to remain slow when driving in or around work zones and pay attention to signs and flaggers.
The contractor for this project is C.H.D. Enterprises Inc. of New Stanton and the project is expected to be completed by December 4, 2025.
