Boardman police were called to separate incidents involving juveniles at the Target store and the Southern Park Mall over the weekend, highlighting ongoing issues with unruly behavior and trespassing at township retailers.

On Saturday evening, two males were arrested for trespassing at the Target on Boardman Poland Road. According to a police report, officers were dispatched at approximately 8:32 p.m. after the store manager recognized two teens on surveillance videos who had previously been issued criminal trespass warnings.

The suspects were identified as Landen James Sipes, 18, of Lake Milton, and a 17-year-old boy from Youngstown. Police confirmed the active trespass warnings stemmed from a prior incident and arrested the two near a mall exit.

Sipes was booked at the Boardman Police Department and released with a court date set for Tuesday in Mahoning County Court #2. The minor was released to his guardian and will face court proceedings through the juvenile system.

The Target incident follows a pattern of similar issues at the store in recent weeks. Police have responded to multiple reports of unruly juveniles loitering, causing disturbances, and refusing to leave, resulting in several groups being banned from the store.

Earlier in the weekend, on Friday evening, police were called to the Southern Park Mall for a report of a juvenile male trespassing on the property. Mall security identified the 14-year-old Youngstown boy as someone previously banned from the mall.

The teen had reportedly fled the mall property before officers arrived but was later located walking nearby on Boardman Poland Road. He admitted to being aware of the trespass warning.

Mall security declined to pursue criminal trespass charges but requested that the warning dates be updated. The boy was cited for possession of tobacco after officers found a vape device on him. He was released to his mother, and the vape was logged as evidence.
