State lawmakers from The Valley putting more pressure on federal colleagues to probe Insight, help workers

"It's devastating, it's confusing," said State Rep. Lauren McNally (D-58th District).
And it's the latest chapter in the saga of insight Trumbull and Hillside Rehab Hospital.
Last week, Insight essentially shut down the facilities and furloughed more than 100 employees.
Those employees are only now getting some of the pay they earned.
"That's when the red flags really went up," McNally told 21's Chris Cerenelli Friday.
She joined her Republican colleague State Rep. Nick Santucci in a letter offering what little support state lawmakers can give.
"It's really been about what can we do for the people who are losing their jobs...and then what can we do to make sure that those who need health care long term are going to be able to do that, like can we absorb the health care?"
McNally tells 21 News there have been conversations about that during budget talks in Columbus, but ethics rules leave hers and her colleagues' hands tied.
The joint letter also urges people impacted to call US Senators Jon Husted and Bernie Moreno, along with Congressman Dave Joyce.
She hopes the groundswell of frustration and outcry will lead to accountability at the federal level. On Thursday, Warren Mayor Doug Franklin called for a criminal investigation of Steward Health on grounds of alleged Medicare/Medicaid fraud.
"Tell us what's going on," McNally said. "Just a little...if you don't even know yet, tell us that. Tell us that you're working on something."
Otherwise, The Valley's health care system could be in grave danger with an unstable system.
"If we are cutting off Medicare or Medicaid, nobody's going to want to come in and buy that system, nobody's going to want to come in and offer health care to the area," said McNally.
A worst-case scenario that time is running out to avoid.
Late Friday, Congressman Joyce's office sent the following statement:
"The sudden closure of Insight Hospital and Medical Center Trumbull and Insight Rehabilitation Hospital in Hillside is devastating to our community. This incident has left patients with limited options for care and hundreds of employees without pay. I am working with all involved parties to rectify the situation.”
