Allegheny Health Network (AHN) announced on Friday plans to expand its Cancer Institute at its Grove City Hospital.

The expansion is slated for completion by the end of 2025 and will more than double the institute's current footprint growing from 1,145 square feet to 3,584 square feet.

This $4 million investment will transform existing space on the hospital's first floor near the cafeteria into a much larger, more patient-centered facility. The investment was made possible by a $1 million commitment from the Grove City Health Care Foundation.

Key improvements with the new facility include:

- Increased number of chemotherapy infusion bays from six to eight with each featuring private walls for enhanced patient privacy.

- The addition of one more exam room bringing the number from two to three, which would reduce wait times and improve access to care.

- A larger check-in area to accommodate more patients and streamline the registration process.

- A new exterior entrance on the side of the building providing patients with direct access to parking, simplifying arrival and departure.

Grove City Hospital President Dr. Christopher Clark is quoted in a press release saying this expansion represents a significant investment in the hospital's commitment to providing exceptional cancer care for Shenango Valley residents.

"Our extraordinary caregivers helped us conceptualize and design a beautiful, healing environment that prioritizes the comfort, health and well-being of our patients and we can't wait to open its doors later this year," Dr. Clark said.
