A local Ohio State Representative has penned a letter to Insight, who purchased and assumed operations of two Trumbull County Hospitals following a recent shutdown and mass layoffs.

The letter from Representative Nick Santucci was cosigned by other local representatives including Lauren McNally, Tex Fischer, David Thomas, Monica Robb-Blasdel and Sarah Fowler Arthur.

In the letter, Santucci says he has been communicating directly with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's Office about the matter and the governor has offered a phone number as a point of contact for inquiries and assistance.

That number is 614-644-4357.

Additionally, Santucci says his office has facilitated direct communication between the Insight's President and Governor DeWine's office to open lines of communication and explore potential solutions.

Santucci also addressed a class-action lawsuit filed by an employee of Insight that alleged the company violated the WARN Act when it laid off its employees with little warning.

While Santucci said legislative offices could not offer legal advice or get involved in legal matters, he encouraged employees to contact their federal representatives including Congressman Dave Joyce, Senator Bernie Moreno and Senator Jon Husted.

"The WARN Act is federal law and they are best positioned to address these matters," Santucci wrote.

Santucci went on to suggest any displaced employees contact OhioMeansJobs for assistance or attend their Rapid Response event Friday, April 4.
