A Youngstown man faces charges after allegedly crashing his SUV into a large flowerpot in downtown Youngstown on Monday and then leaving the scene.

According to a Youngstown Police Department report, Ryan Reble, 37, is scheduled to appear in municipal court to answer charges of failing to stop after an accident and driving without a license.

The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. near the intersection of East Commerce Street and North Walnut Street. Youngstown Cityscape initially reported the damaged cement flowerpot to the police.

Officers found the damaged flowerpot and small pieces of black plastic nearby. No witnesses were present at that time.

An employee at the Better Business Bureau, whose office overlooks the intersection, reported seeing a silver Kia Sorento jump the curb and hit the flowerpot. The witness reportedly recorded the incident and saw the driver, later identified as Reble, park the vehicle in the adjacent YMCA parking lot and walk away.

YMCA surveillance video corroborated the witness's account. The video showed the Kia Sorento traveling south on North Walnut Street, going over the curb, striking a light pole, and then hitting the flowerpot. The video also showed the driver maneuvering the vehicle into a parking space in the YMCA lot.

YMCA officials later informed police that a man identifying himself as Ryan had called to report that a blown tire caused him to strike the flowerpot. He reportedly told the YMCA he would arrange to have the vehicle towed.

Police located the silver Kia in the YMCA parking lot. The vehicle had heavy front-end damage on the passenger side and a flat front passenger tire.

Police contacted Reble by phone, and he identified himself as the driver. Reble stated that a tire blew out on North Champion Street, causing him to hit the curb and the flowerpot. He admitted to contacting the YMCA and then walking to a friend's house. He also acknowledged that his driver's license is currently suspended.

The estimated cost to replace the damaged flowerpot is $1,500.

The Sorento was towed from the YMCA parking lot and placed on a traffic hold.

Authorities also noted in the police report that Reble is currently wanted on warrants from the Mahoning and Trumbull Counties.
