OVI checkpoint planned Friday night in Mahoning County

The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the county on Friday, April 4, 2025, to deter and intercept impaired drivers, officials said.
Officers will conduct roadside checks for alcohol and drug impairment, the task force said in a release. Specific details of the checkpoint, including location and time, will be released shortly before the checkpoint begins.
Saturation patrols will also be conducted throughout the weekend.
Participating agencies include the Mahoning County OVI Task Force, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Mahoning Safe Communities and the Mahoning County EMA.
A 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling requires that drivers be notified before sobriety checkpoints are conducted to avoid violating constitutional protections against illegal search and seizure. The ruling did not specify what constitutes adequate notification.
