A television program starring the Mahoning Valley's very own Capri Cafaro has began airing its second season this week.

The second season of "America the Bountiful" premiered on PBS Tuesday, April 1. This season will spotlight Cafaro's 13-week road trip across the country exploring the tasty heritage and food traditions of various parts of the country.

The first episode saw Cafaro travel to the Acadiana region of Louisiana, otherwise known as "Cajun Country" and join a crawfisherman to harvest the "mudbug" and serve it up at a traditional Cajun crawfish boil.

The first episode also saw her celebrate Louisiana's favorite seafood and Cajun culture at the annual Beaux Bridge Crawfish Festival and and learn about traditional Creole recipes for crawfish in New Orleans.

Future episodes will take viewers to Kennett Square in Pennsylvania, which is known as the "mushroom capital of the world," Traverse City, Michigan, which is known as the "cherry capital of the world" and even her home state of Ohio where she will highlight the walleye of Lake Erie just to name a few.

"Each episode in season 2 captures a unique part of our nation's diverse tapestry of flavors. We remain proud to be able to amplify stories of Americans who help produce the food we eat and preserve important cultural traditions through culinary practices," Cafaro said.
