Congressman Rulli notified of McGuffey Wildlife Preserve complaint
It's the latest saga in a years-long controversy, a spokesperson for Congressman Michael Rulli says the office received a complaint regarding the conditions of the McGuffey Wildlife Preserve as well as Mill Creek MetroParks' maintenance of the property.
Richard Scarsella, chairman of the William Holmes McGuffey sent us a copy of the letter Rulli's office sent to Mill Creek MetroParks.

A spokesperson for Congressman Rulli says that it's a local issue, not a federal issue and that no further action will be taken.
Scarsella says that when the historical society donated the 73-acre property to the park district, the expectation was that the park would keep up maintenance.
"Much to our surprise, the park has never done any routine maintenance of the pond or the dock." said Scarsella.
The latter was removed two years ago. Scarsella says the pond has turned into a wetland.
Mahoning County Commissioner Anthony Traficanti says they've written to the park board, asking them to assume that responsibility and that personally he believes it needs to be maintained by them. The commissioner adding that he would also support the idea of a state entity like the Ohio Department of Natural Resources taking ownership of the property.
"There are ongoing efforts to change how the park board is selected. Right now they are appointed by one judge." explained Scarsella, a process they hope to change by continuing to apply pressure.
