Multiple Valley schools receive over $330k total in RAPIDS grant funding

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel and Department of Higher Education Chancellor Mike Duffey have announced $8 million in funding for the latest round of the department's Regionally Aligned Priorities in Delivering Skills (RAPIDS) grants.
"Our RAPIDS grants offer a unique opportunity for Ohio's campuses and career technical centers to help address specific workforce needs at the local level," said Governor DeWine.
The RAPIDS program aims to provide funding to Ohio's public universities, community colleges and career technical centers in order for the institutes to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for students in workforce training/education.
Four academic institutes from the Valley have received $331,460.06 total in funding from the RAPIDS grants.
- Youngstown State University: $103,980.00
- Choffin Career and Technical Center: $88,462.03
- Columbiana County JVSD: $68,339.00
- Mahoning Co. Career & Technical Center: $70,679.03
"Making sure we're preparing our workforce of tomorrow to fill all of the incredible job opportunities in Ohio is really a team effort," said Lt. Governor Tressel.
