The Pittsburgh Pirates announced Tuesday two-time All-Star closer David Bednar has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.

The 30-year old Bednar has retired only three of nine batters he's faced in three games this season and has two losses.

From 2021-2023, Bednar piled up 226 strikeouts and was named an All-Star in 2022 and 2023.

He struggled in 2024 with a 5.77 ERA and was removed from being the closer in August.
