One of the most successful girls basketball coaches in the area and in Northeast Ohio apparently won't be back next season.

West Branch's Walt DeShields confirmed to 21 Sports he was told Monday "the district wants to go in a different direction."

DeShields took over the program in 2005 and has never had a losing season.

His 379 wins includes seven district titles, two state final four appearances in 2015 and 2020 and multiple league championships.

West Branch finished the 2024-2025 campaign with a 22-3 overall record.
