Brrr-illiant April sunshine, no tricks

Looks like Mother Nature decided to spring a surprise on us. You gotta admit, her humor is definitely an acquired taste. April will have us fooled with a good looking view from inside, yet a chill will greet you outside! Not quite the warm spring welcome many would like this time of year. Temperatures struggle to get out of the 30s for much of the day. We'll have a blend of clouds in the morning and sunshine through the afternoon. Highs should settle into the low 40s - April brrr-ings it Tuesday.

A warmup is in route accompanied by wet weather. Temperatures will be more seasonal in the 50s and 60s most of the upcoming week. And you know what April brings … that’s right - showers! Or in our case rounds of locally hefty rain. You'll want to keep the rain gear at the ready. Right now there looks to be a miserable stretch of weather with several chances for rain - Wednesday afternoon into the upcoming weekend. There’s still some uncertainty with the track of a boundary, but it looks like it could bring periods of wet weather into the weekend. We'll have to keep an eye on flood potential locally with a lot of water coming our way Friday through Sunday. Attention soccer moms - the grass fields will be sopping wet this weekend and likely lead to rescheduled games.

Let's back up for a moment to a powerful storm system that could bring severe weather to a large area of real estate over much of the eastern half of the country Wednesday and Thursday. This system mirrors the storm system that just impacted the Midwest, Deep South and eastern U.S. Sunday and Monday.

The weather takes a 7th inning stretch and improves for a few hours to welcome baseball back to the ‘Burgh Friday afternoon at PNC Park - first pitch is at 4:12PM against the New York Yankees and all fans take home a 2025 magnetic schedule. Guardians Home Opener is April 8th first pitch at 4:10PM against the Chicago White Sox and we may have some of Mother Nature’s confetti flying around and I’m not talking flower petals. You will also want to pull out winter's finest coat for the beginning of next week - it looks cold.
