Multiple insurance providers filed an objection against Steward Health Care System, claiming they should be reimbursed for overpayments to the hospital for their health plans made to Sharon Regional Medical.

UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company, Aetna, Cigna, and Humana all filed objections recently to the sale of the hospital, seeking reimbursement for overpayment claims and asking the court for a 'cure claim' in the United States Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of Texas in Houston.

A cure claim or filing is a process in which the debtor can remedy a breach of contract, allowing for the continuation of a contract.

In the filing, UnitedHealthcare seeks the return of $93,402.27, while Aetna seeks $100,504.16. Humana and its subsidiaries said the cure amount was approximately $36,975.53, and Cigna filed an objection. However, it had no records of active contracts with Sharon Regional.

Tenor Health Partners CEO Radha Savitala told 21 News that her company is having discussions with all the insurance companies involved that have filed limited motions and that no one wants these companies to be out of network for Sharon Regional Medical Center.
