The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will be conducting a checkpoint in Mahoning County sometime this weekend.

The checkpoint will take place sometime between Friday, April 4 and Sunday, April 6. More specific details including the time, date and location of the checkpoint will be revealed later in the week.

The checkpoint will be accompanied by saturation patrols throughout various parts of Mahoning County. These patrols aim to keep impaired drivers off the roadways.

A 1990 Supreme Court ruling said holding sobriety checkpoints without first notifying drivers would violate the Constitution's provision barring illegal search and seizure.

The ruling did not spell out what was considered an adequate notification.
