WARN notice for Insight shows 143 workers furloughed as Insight seeking funding

Another update in the developing story about Insight Hospital & Medical Center Trumbull and the medical centers they manage was submitted to the state's mass layoff notification system, Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN), run by Ohio Jobs and Family Services.
WARN notices were issued Friday afternoon stating that 143 people received layoff notifications. However a letter from Insight to AFSCME, Ohio Council 8, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, and AFL-CIO says 689 employees will be affected.
The layoffs were due to "unforeseeable business circumstances," according to Insight.
Specifically, the previous owners of the medical center, Steward, discontinued payments to Insight that were required according to the terms of Steward's bankruptcy.
This has led to a lack of significant funding for Insight, which is required to meet its payroll and other business expenses.
According to the WARN notice, Insight hopes to secure new sources of funding and recall its employees within six months, but it has not guaranteed this yet, meaning it cannot guarantee that employees will be recalled at all.
If Insight fails to source new funding, all employees will be fired permanently.
Employees at the Hillside facility are represented by the following unions that have been notified of the layoffs:
