Despite rainy skies, more than 100 runners laced up for the second annual Run 330 in Boardman, a race that celebrates the pride of living in Ohio’s 330 area code.

Organized by Second Sole, the event featured a 3.30-mile course—slightly longer than a typical 5K—winding through the neighborhood behind the Boardman running store. Race Director Mark Lipinsky, who created the event last year, said it’s all about giving the community something unique to rally around.

“It’s a celebration of living in the 330 area code,” Lipinsky said. “We just invite people to come out and celebrate being part of the 330 running community.”

According to Lipinsky, around 100 people participated in the inaugural Run 330 in 2023. This year, that number was surpassed—despite the rain.

“There’s not a lot of things that stop runners from coming out and participating in a fun event like this,” he said.

Among the returning runners was Ruthie Rassega, who won the women’s division last year. She said she enjoys revisiting familiar races to track her progress.

“I actually like to do the same races year after year just to see how I place and try to improve my time from the year prior,” Rassega said. “The 3.30 distance makes it unique and different from the typical 5K.”

For Erin Burns, the race is personal—it falls near her birthday and happens right in her neighborhood.

“What better way to celebrate 330 than show our support, group together, have a little fun, and put on a race,” she said.

With energy high at the start line and smiles at the finish, runners made it clear: 330 pride runs deep, no matter the weather.
