Manhunt ends near Grove City after violent home invasion

A man accused of a violent home invasion and assault in Butler County was apprehended near Grove City early Thursday after a manhunt that included a helicopter search, Pennsylvania State Police said.
The 42-year-old victim was taken to Grove City Hospital with serious head injuries following the assault at his home in Washington Township, Butler County, before being life-flighted to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
State police said that around 3 a.m.. Friday, Dylan Hinchberger, 31, broke into the victim’s home on Stewart Road, stole firearms, and then attacked him outside. Hinchberger continued the assault inside the residence and fired a gun. Police say he then fled in Roxberry’s vehicle, crashing it about five miles away before fleeing on foot.
The investigation led troopers to a Quality Inn Hotel in Springfield Township, where Hinchberger was located. As troopers moved to apprehend him, they say Hinchberger fled from a second-story window into a wooded area. State police aviation assisted in the search, guiding troopers on the ground to Hinchberger, who was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
Roxberry remains in critical condition. Hinchberger was transported to the state police barracks in Butler and is in custody.
