The Ohio Catholic Athletic League was announced last July with Cardinal Mooney and Ursuline a part of it.
Fast forward nine months and the league is over before it starts.
Mooney, Ursuline, Akron Saint Vincent Saint Mary, Villa Angela Saint Joseph, Columbus Hartley, Columbus Watterson, Columbus Saint Francis DeSales and Walsh Jesuit were supposed to debut the league in 2026 but soon after being announced it fell apart.
21 Sports learned "one school" decided to drop out and it started a chain reaction where it was another and then another.
Ursuline Athletic Director John DeSantis says despite the league following apart, the plan is for the Irish to play Walsh and the three Columbus schools in football when it fits into each team's schedule.
