Choffin Career & Technical Center is supporting students in need with two new Care Closets.
According to a press release, this initiative was spearheaded by Assistant Principal and Dean of Students Denise Zordich in collaboration with the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.
The two closets are located on the second and third floors of the building and provide students in need with access to essential personal and food items to ensure their basic needs are met.
The second floor closet offers personal items like clothing and hygiene products, while the third floor closet is dedicated to non-perishable food items.
"As one of our instructors put it, 'a full belly leads to a full mind.' If a student misses breakfast or needs something more after lunch, having access to food can make all the difference in their day," Zordich said.
Choffin is one of many schools in the Mahoning Valley to have a Care Closet with others including Lowellville, Struthers and Sebring.
