Another lawsuit has been filed in connection with the deadly explosion at the Realty Building in downtown Youngstown.

This new suit was filed by two employees at the Chase Bank that was housed on the first floor of the building.

Like others before it, this suit is against building owners LY Property Management and Yo Properties LLC, as well as construction company Greenheart Companies LLC and gas company Enbridge Gas Ohio.

Greenheart Companies LLC was contracted by the City of Youngstown to work on a sidewalk replacement project. Part of that project included clearing out old piping and outdated infrastructure and debris in the basement and vault area under the sidewalk near the building.

As this work was being done, an employee cut a gas line causing a gas explosion about six minutes later.

The suit states that the employees were injured due to the explosion with one suffering "serious traumatic injuries" to his shoulder, knees and head, which caused him to lose consciousness.

The suit also states that both employees suffered lost wages due to the explosion.

Like other suits before it, this one accuses all defendants of negligence stating that the building owners should have known the dangers and failed to warn occupants of the building of the potentially dangerous work being done and not supervising the crew working in the basement.

Meanwhile, the state slams Greenheart alleging that their workers were improperly trained or supervised and slammed Enbridge alleging that they did not depressurize the gas line prior to crews working in the basement.

This is one of many suits filed in reference to the explosion with others being filed by other Chase Bank employees, residents of the Realty Towers apartments on the upper floors of the building and the family of Chase Bank employee Akil Drake who was killed in the explosion.
