With the rapid pace of change involving Trumbull Insight and Hillside Hospital workers, here is information that workers need to know moving forward.

21 News contacted Ohio Jobs and Family Services to find out what workers need to do since the shutdown of services was abruptly announced.

Bill Teets, Office of Communications for Ohio Jobs and Family Services, told 21 News that displaced workers should file for unemployment immediately, even though they have not officially received layoff or furlough notifications.

Teets said that even though no WARN notices went out, workers should go to unemployment.ohio.gov for information or call (877) 644-6562. The process can take up to 21 days to complete all the steps and verifications involved, and amounts received vary by length of time working at the facilities.

John Gargano of Trumbull County Jobs and Family Services told 21 News that a Rapid Response has been put together today after the shut down of services was sent out to workers.

Insight workers impacted can attend a JFS Rapid Response event scheduled for next Friday, April 4, in the Kent State Trumbull Auditorium, 4314 Mahoning Avenue for two sessions to help workers. The teams at the Rapid Response will include representatives from both state and local partners. The sessions will be at 9 am for workers with last names beginning with letters A-K and an 11 am session for workers with last names beginning with L to Z. There will also be a makeup session at 1 p.m.

Trumbull JFS said workers should contact union officials for information regarding paychecks for time worked and health care coverage.

Workers wishing to get help with resumes or reskilled should visit ohiomeansjobs.com for more information.
