Cars and home vandalized overnight in Warren, neighbors say it’s not the first time
Some people living on Edgehill Avenue SE in Warren are rattled after another vandalism late Wednesday night.
“I had a hard time sleeping last night,” Gina Mendoza said. "...I felt unsafe in my own house."
Mendoza said she was out with friends when her granddaughter called her and told her she heard banging. Mendoza came home to find the windows of the cars in her driveway were smashed and the windows on her home were broken.
The entire incident happened in less than 30 seconds and was caught on security cameras located at the bar next door. In the video, you can see one person approach the first car and smash the back window. They then move on to a second car and break the front and back window. The person then goes to the front door of the house where another window was found broken before taking off and running down the street.
“It seemed like in the video he had a lot of aggression. You know he just had no problem doing it like he wanted to do it and get out,” Mendoza said.
Mendoza had two other cars parked at the house that were untouched.
Neighbors who didn't want to go on camera said they’ve also had their houses vandalized on different occasions. One woman told 21 News she found her car with paint splattered on it back in December.
That neighbor and Mendoza have filed police reports with the Warren Police Department.
Mendoza has been living on the street for five years now. She and several other neighbors said it’s a friendly and calm street and that these vandalisms are unusual.
For Mendoza, she's now stuck dealing with hundreds of dollar in damage.
“The way the economy is right now ... and the way the insurances are like we don't have the money to fix this,” she said.
Mendoza is hoping the police will investigate and find whoever did Wednesday night's vandalism. Until then, she says she'll be paying extra attention to her surroundings.
