Youngstown man sentenced to prison in homicide case

A Youngstown man involved in a homicide in the city back in November of 2023 has learned his fate.
According to a press release from the Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office, 33-year-old Kaylon Adams was sentenced to 23 to 28 and a half years in prison on charges of involuntary manslaughter with a firearm specification, felonious assault, improper discharge of a firearm and having weapons under disability.
The charges stem from a shooting that claimed the life of 29-year-old Christian Oliver and injured a 73-year-old woman who was shot in the leg.
Adams was arrested in May of 2024 after U.S. Marshals found him in Atlanta, Georgia.
Adams entered a plea deal following issues involving a key piece of DNA evidence against him. The decision to make a plea deal was made after consulting the victims and their families.
"We always prioritize the needs and concerns of the victims and their families in our prosecutorial decisions," said Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro.
