The George Junior Republic in Grove City has received over $40,000 to purchase food service equipment.

The George Junior Republic received a total of $40,906, which will be used to purchase a dishwasher for the cafeteria.

The funding is part of $332,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to 12 local education agencies across the commonwealth to purchase new food service equipment for their cafeterias.

"Students can't learn when they're hungry, and these grants help schools to make sure their cafeterias are serving students to the best of their abilities, fueling both students' minds and bodies," said PDE Acting Secretary Dr. Carrie Rowe.

According to the facility's website, The George Junior Republic offers residential and community-based programs for individuals, youth and their families.
