Police are looking for whoever took military headstones from a cemetery shed in Liverpool Township in Columbiana County.

According to the police report, 12 or more bronze military headstones were being stored at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Liverpool Township. They were discovered missing and were taken somewhere between last Friday and Wednesday.

According to a social media post by a person who works at the cemetery, the plaques taken were older markers that had never been placed, as the cemetery hadn't received notification from the families.

Anyone with information about the missing headstones is asked to call the Liverpool Township Police Department at 330-385-1630.

21 News reached out to determine the Department of Veterans Affairs' policy regarding replacing missing military headstones. The media spokesperson told us they would investigate the incident, which could take up to a week.
