MCCTC Adult Career Center unveils new veterinary program, hosting open house

The Mahoning County Career and Technical Center (MCCTC) Adult Career Center announced the launch of a new veterinary assistant program it will be offering in a news release on Wednesday.
The Veterinary Assistant program is described as a five-month program that would provide students with essential skills to support veterinarians and veterinarian technicians in clinical environments.
The curriculum of the program will cover veterinary fundamentals, animal care, pharmacology, lab procedures, radiology and surgical assisting.
According to the release, the program will take students through 150 hours of in-class instruction.
A 100-hour externship is also required - allowing students opportunities to gain real-world experience in veterinary hospitals, diagnostic labs and animal shelters.
Upon completion of the program, graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions at veterinary clinic, specialty hospitals and research facilities.
An open house is being offered to any interested potential students on April 8 at 6 p.m., held at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, Adult Career Center, 7300 North Palmyra Road, Canfield.
The program begins on April 14 and goes until August 28, with class scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays - instructed by Stacy Pierce.
The cost of the program is listed as $2,735.
