Second Harvest Food Bank receives $10,000 donation

Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley (SHFBMV) was awarded a $10,000 donation from Gibson Insurance Agency through the "2025 Make More Happen Awards" program.
The donation will help SHFBMV purchase more food to support local school pantries, senior programs, food pantries and meal sites through its 160 partners.
SHFBMV is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to eliminating hunger in the Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties by distributing food to hunger-relief programs and promoting education and advocacy.
Originally, Gibson Insurance Agency received a $5,000 donation for Second Harvest through the "2025 Make More Happen Awards" from Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance.
After the local partnership was featured on the official Make More Happen microsite here, they raised an additional $5,000 via a local awareness campaign where the total donation became $10,000.
"Recognizing independent agents' dedication to their communities and nonprofit partners is what the 'Make More Happen Awards' are all about," said Marie Curtis, Safeco Insurance Senior Territory Manager.
She continues, "Gibson Insurance Agency is an outstanding example of how agencies can make a real difference, and we hope sharing their story inspires others to give back as well."
Throughout 2025, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select up to 36 independent agencies for the "Make More Happen Award," donating up to $360,000 to support nonprofits.
