A project to replace the bridge that takes Forrester Road over Coll Spring Creek in Fairview Township is set to begin next month.

The $1.25 million project will see the demolition of the current steel bridge in place of a new concrete bridge in its place. Other notable parts of this project are excavation, waterproofing, paving and updating guide rails.

This project necessitates a detour to work on the bridge's demolition and construction. Mercer County motorists are advised to use Airport Road, Stoneboro Road and Poole Road.

This closure and detour is expected to be in place for five months.

The original steel bridge being replaced was built in 1952 and is considered to be in "poor" condition.

Thomas Construction, a company based out of Grove City is the contractor tasked with the replacement of this bridge.

The project is scheduled to start on April 7 and is expected to be finished by August 29.
