Union rep provides update on Insight Health negotiations, furloughs
After furlough negotiations between Insight Health and the AFSCME, SEIU unions ceased for the day Chrissy Lewis, coordinator for SEIU District 1199, spoke exclusively with Reporter Sydney Canty on 21 News at 5 to discuss what went on in the meeting.
Lewis said negotiations ended without any answers or agreements and that they're still currently negotiating the terms of the furloughs.
Tomorrow, Lewis said she should be getting an official list of departments that will be getting furloughed and though she has an idea of which departments they might be, she doesn't know how many.
Lewis tells Canty this rollercoaster ride the employees have been on has been incredibly frustrating. Lewis said the unknowns surrounding whether or not they'll have jobs over the next six months make this even worse.
Negotiations will not continue into Wednesday but Lewis said they will have to schedule negotiations for a later date after the list of furloughs has been released.
Lewis thanks the community for their support and is hoping to see a much brighter future, sooner rather than later.
