A Newton Falls man has pled guilty to a rape charge on Tuesday.
Seventy-six-year-old Thomas Giljahn pled guilty to one count of rape during a hearing in Judge Ronald Rice's court on Tuesday.
An indictment filed in January of 2025 reveals that Giljahn's crime occurred in the Fall of 2022. The victim's age is unknown, but the victim was an adult male according to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office.
The prosecutor's office says Giljahn had forced oral sex with the victim.
A sentencing date will be set for Giljahn upon completion of a pre-sentencing investigation. Prosecutors say he could face up to 16 and a half years in prison and would have to register as a tier 3 sex offender every 90 days for the rest of his life.
