Demolition has begun at the former McDonald Steel Plant in the Village of McDonald.
McDonald Mayor Ray Lewis tells 21 News the demolition process began about two weeks ago and is expected to last two to three months.
This will be a controlled demolition with an end goal of cleaning up and remediating the site for redevelopment following the demolition.
A statement from AP McDonald LLC, who purchased the building in July of 2024, says the company along with its real estate and financial partners are working with local, county and state officials and businesspeople on redevelopment plans.
