In a recent gas price report from AAA East Central, the company states that gas prices have went up by $.20 per gallon this week in northeast Ohio.

National gas prices have increased by just $.4 per gallon which is credited in the report to the seasonal switch oil refineries are making to summer-blend gasoline which is specially made for the season to lower the chances of gasoline evaporating.

The national average price for a gallon of gas as of March 24 is $3.12 which is still five cents lower than a week ago and 40 cents lower than a year ago.

In northeast Ohio and areas of the Valley, gas was hovering around $2.89 and $3 per gallon but this week that price is up to the national average of $3.12.

Niles and Youngstown have been lower than the national average in gas prices however, with gas averaging less than $3.10 per gallon in both areas.

Ohio as a state falls outside the top 10 most expensive gasoline markets, with California and Hawaii being atop that list with average gas prices north of $5 per gallon.

Mississippi is the least expensive state for gas as of now with prices averaging $2.66 per gallon, $.46 less than Ohio's average per gallon.
