We're now getting a clearer time frame of how long the Walker Mill bridge will be closed for following a crash involving a garbage truck.

A representative for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) tells 21 News the bridge will remain closed and I-680 Northbound will be reduced to one lane until mid-June.

The bridge has been closed since Wednesday, March 12 after a garbage truck's hydraulic arms struck the overpass. The ODOT representative tells 21 News five beams were struck and damaged as a result of the crash.

This week, crews will begin constructing temporary lanes at Walker Mill in order to get repairs started. For the next three months, that work is expected to include heat straightening and beam work in order to repair the bridge's structural integrity.

In the meantime, this closure has required traffic including emergency response vehicles to take another route resulting in delayed response times for emergency calls.
