Youngstown State University sent out a news release on Friday, stating that $100,000 had been pledged to the Kilcawley: Centered on the Future Campaign by Shelly LaBerto.

The $100,000 contribution will go towards the revitalization and modernization of the Kilcawley Center found on YSU's campus.

To recognize LaBerto's contribution, a student organization suite in the Kilcawley Center will be named after her.

LaBerto is the owner of Tiffany Square Plaza Chick-fil-A in Boardman and an alumna of Youngstown State University according to the news release.

"When I was on campus in the late 80s, Kilcawley was where I lived if I wasn't in class - whether it was studying with friends in the Chestnut Room, Greek Life or other activities," LaBerto included in the news release.

She continues, "It was such a big part of my life for those five years at YSU, and I'm proud to support its future."

LaBerto is credited in the news release with earning a degree in Political Science with a minor in economics and a combined business focus during her time at YSU.

Additionally, she included another quote in the news release where she shares that she was on the alumni board for 11 years and served as president for two years.

LaBerto's work with Chick-fil-A began when she was 16 and was working at the Southern Park Mall location.

After completing her degree from YSU, she was hired for an internship at the Chick-fil-A corporate headquarters.

She later returned to Boardman and became the general manager of the free-standing location there. She would become the owner of the Tiffany Square Plaza Chick-fil-A in 2023.

She is now celebrating 42 years with Chick-fil-A.
