OSHP investigating fatal crash in Yellow Creek Township

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday morning around 2 a.m. in Yellow Creek Township, Columbiana County.
A news release from the patrol states that a 2012 Fiat hatchback was traveling northwest on State Route 39 just west of Tenth Street Extension.
As the driver was traveling along a curve in the road, the car traveled off the right side of the roadway, hitting a guardrail, electric pole, and two trees according to the release.
The car then caught fire and was fully engulfed.
The driver, whose name has not yet been released, died at the scene due to their injuries.
The Columbiana County Sheriff's Office, Wellsville Fire Department, Wellsville Police Department, LifeTeam EMS, Columbiana County Coroner's Office and Complete Auto Towing assisted at the scene.
The Highlandtown Volunteer Fire Department Chief says that the Highlandtown Volunteer Fire Department was the first agency on scene.
The road was closed in both directions for roughly two and a half hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
The crash continues to be investigated by authorities.
