The Austintown Senior Center has announced that it has earned the prestigious Senior Center of Excellence Accreditation from the Ohio Association of Senior Centers (OASC) on Thursday, March 20.

That title is awarded based on a rigorous evaluation process from OASC, which measures a senior center's effectiveness in managing a senior center and in providing high-quality programs and services to seniors.

According to a press release, the Austintown Senior Center is the 8th senior center in Ohio to receive the title.

"We are honored to receive this esteemed recognition from the Ohio Association of Senior Centers. It reflects our ongoing efforts to provide quality programming and a welcoming environment for older adults in our community," said Austintown Senior Center Assistant Director Jessica Ricker.

Ricker went on to say this achievement would not have been possible without the support of township trustees, as well as the local community.

The Austintown Senior Center opened in 2010 and offers a variety of programs and seminars designed to promote active lifestyles, social engagement and education.

The center will continue to expand its offerings including educational workshops, fitness classes, social events and health and wellness programs.
