Students rally around Boardman High School senior diagnosed with rare life-altering disease

Students are rallying around a Boardman High School Senior who was recently diagnosed with a rare, life-altering disease.
Senior Kayden Beish was recently diagnosed with Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), which is a rare chronic disease holding a near 100% risk of colon cancer if left untreated.
According to Cleveland Clinic, FAP is estimated to affect one in every 8,000 people and accounts for only 0.5% of all colorectal cancer cases. There is no known cure for FAP and the only treatment is surgery to remove the colon.
Furthermore, those diagnosed with the disease can expect a lifetime of medical screenings and possibly multiple surgeries to remove tumors.
As a result of this diagnosis, the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted Beish's wish giving her and her family a trip to Hawaii for spring break in April.
On top of that, Beish's peers at school have rallied around her as well with the Boardman High School Link Crew selling Kayden's Krew bracelets for $2 apiece for students in all grade levels to wear in support.
Additionally, a spaghetti dinner will be held in the Boardman High School Cafeteria Sunday, March 30 from 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. with proceeds from ticket sales supporting Beish's care and medical expenses.
Tickets will cost $12 for those age 13 and over and $8 for children age 5-12. Children age four and under are free.
