After a beautiful and warm Wednesday, big changes are on the way for the remainder of this week and this month.

Showers greeted us to begin the day, but after a brief pause, expect showers to return later in the afternoon with a switchover to light snow around sunset. Temperatures will continue to fall, and temperatures could be as chilly as the upper 30s during the evening commute.

Thursday is also the Vernal Equinox or first day of the astronomical spring season, beginning officially at 5:01 am when the sun is centered above the equator. While equinox can be interpreted as "equal" as in the amount of time for day and night, we actually will clock in exactly 12 hours and 9 minutes of daylight on Thursday due to the sun's rays refracting or bending in the atmosphere, causing the additional time.

While Friday will feature abundant sunshine, it will be more seasonable with high temperatures close to 50 degrees.

Showers creep back into the forecast overnight and into Saturday morning, eventually tapering off early in the afternoon. Saturday will be breezy too, and temperatures will fall out of the low 40s in the morning, leaving us with a chilly second half of the day.

Sunday will end the weekend with seasonable temperatures in the upper 40s, with showers becoming likely Sunday night and lingering into Monday.

Showers may even mix with a few snowflakes Monday night into Tuesday. Temperatures continue to trend largely below the average for the end of March.
