Niles Police seek suspect in Speedway armed robbery

Niles police are reaching out to the public for help as they investigate an armed robbery that occurred late Sunday at a Speedway gas station on Vienna Avenue.
Officers responded to the Speedway at 120 Vienna Ave. at approximately 11:20 p.m. following a report of an armed robbery, according to police reports.
A male suspect entered the store and presented a note to the clerk, claiming he had a bomb and a gun and demanding cash. The clerk complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect then fled the store on foot, heading south toward Giant Eagle, police said.
According to police reports, the suspect was described as a white male wearing a red and black jacket, a camouflage hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and blue gloves. His face was partially covered.
Officers searched the area with assistance from the Warren and Weathersfield police departments, including a K9 unit, but were unable to locate the suspect.
Surveillance footage from the store showed the suspect entering at approximately 11:21 p.m. and leaving about a minute later.
Niles police said the suspect wore gloves, preventing the collection of fingerprints.
Police released a surveillance image of the suspect on social media, seeking public assistance in identifying him.
"Obviously, you cannot see this person's face, but maybe you recognize his jacket or gloves," Niles Police Detective Anthony Roberts said in a social media post.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Roberts at aroberts@thecityofniles.com or the Niles Police Department at 330-652-9944 ext. 2158.
