A competency hearing has been set for a man accused of beating a pregnant nurse at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

According to court records, a competency hearing has been set on April 16 for Roge Berger, who is facing felony charges of aggravated robbery and felonious assault.

This comes after reports that Berger considered entering a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. This hearing will determine whether or not Berger is competent to stand trial.

Berger's charges stem from an incident back in September of 2024 when a nurse at Trumbull Regional Medical Center was sitting in her car after her shift when Berger allegedly "ripped" the door open and pulled her out of the car demanding the vehicle.

Police said this triggered a fight where at one point Berger allegedly slammed the nurse into the vehicle and punched her in the face over 20 times.
