$750,000 awarded for construction of wastewater collection system in Leavittsburg

One Trumbull County community is among the recipients of $5.15 million in grants to upgrade water infrastructure and promote economic development across Ohio.
According to a press release, Leavittsburg will receive $750,000 from the Ohio Department of Development to assist with the construction of a wastewater collection system in the area.
According to the release, the project will benefit 932 people by protecting Ohio's waterways and improve sanitary conditions in the area.
This is part of $5.15 million in grants from the Ohio Department of Development's Residential Public Infrastructure Grant and Economic Development programs, which are both supported through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik is quoted in the release saying these investments are not just for infrastructure and economic growth, but the people of Ohio as well.
"Whether that's ensuring families have access to clean water or businesses have every opportunity to thrive, we're giving our local partners the resources to cement Ohio as the place where anyone can live their best life," Mihalik said.
