Wednesday court hearing scheduled to stop Leavittsburg dam demolition

A court hearing is scheduled on Wednesday in connection with a civil suit filed by the Trumbull County Board of Commissioners to stop the demolition of the Leavittsburg Dam.
According to court records, a status conference has been set for 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19 in a civil suit between the Trumbull County Board of Commissioners and the Trumbull County Metroparks regarding the planned demolition of the dam.
Back in February, county commissioners asked for an injunction to pause all activity on the dam.
At that time, Commissioner Denny Malloy told us they'd made 15 requests to sit down with the Metroparks Board to discuss alternatives to removing the dam following concerns from Warren Township residents.
Malloy says only one of those requests came to a resolution where both sides agreed to a $30,000 study laying out alternatives to demolition. Malloy said when that study was produced, the Metroparks Board "didn't want to hear the facts."
Court records do not indicate that the commissioners' request for an injunction has been granted or rejected at this time. It is unknown if that request will be discussed at the hearing.
