Safety improvement project on Mercer County roads to begin this month

A safety improvement project at the intersection of Route 18 and Williamson Road is set to begin on March 24.
The preliminary work for this project was done in the fall of 2024 with the big portion of actual improvements set to be completed this fall around October 2025.
Williamson Road is planned to be realigned on the east side to be directly opposite its intersection on the west side as currently it is offset by around 10-12 feet. Other improvements include working on curb radius on all corners, paving, milling, sign updates and pavement markings.
The project will necessitate a detour with motorists being redirected through Route 58 and Route 358 starting April 14 and will be in place for 100 calendar days.
Lane restrictions and flaggers will be present on the street when the detour is not in place. PennDOT urges motorists to slow down and be aware of workers and flaggers when present.
The contractor for this project is Glenn O. Hawbaker of State College, PA and the contract is worth $932,932 which will be paid through federal funds.
