The 38th annual Trumbull County Player of the Year banquet was held at Leo's Ristorante in Howland Monday night.

Warren JFK's Nick Ryan and Mineral Ridge's Ava Hulett were named this year's award winners.

Ryan is a four-year letter winner at Warren JFK and averaged 26.5 points and 11.8 rebounds his senior year. He became the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,927 points for his career.

Ryan helped Kennedy reach back-to-back regional finals in 2024 and 2025.

"Since I was a little kid this is something that I kept up on," said Ryan. "Every year I followed who won it, hoping one day I could end up winning it and so it's a great honor."

"He's the epitome of what the award stands for," said Mark Komlanc, Warren JFK head coach. "Not only for basketball but as far as the leadership qualities."

Hulett is a three-sport standout in basketball, volleyball and track. She averaged a double-double for the Rams during her senior campaign with 18.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.5 steals a game.

Hulett, a four-year starter, helped the Mineral Ridge basketball team to a 19-5 overall record this season.

"It was a big sigh of relief knowing that over the years my dedication, my sweat, playing with my teammates, listening to my coach, everything has just paid off and it's just a really great accomplishment," said Hulett.

"It means a lot to our program," said Amy Harrison, Mineral Ridge basketball coach. "It's the first time we've won this award and it couldn't be given to a more-deserving girl."
